Free URL Checker
Check where a link really goes before you open it. SiteFax follows the redirect chain server-side, inspects the registered domain behind the URL, and reports the risk indicators in plain English — free, instantly, with no account.
What this checker inspects
Every check runs live against public data sources at the moment you submit the URL. Nothing is cached from a stale database of 'known bad' sites.
- Redirect chain — each hop is followed server-side and the final destination is shown to you.
- HTTPS and certificate response — whether the site answers over a valid encrypted connection, and whether plain HTTP is upgraded.
- Domain registration — registrar, registration date, derived age, DNSSEC and transfer-lock status from the registry (RDAP).
- Blacklist status — Google Safe Browsing malware and phishing listings.
- URL structure — punycode, deep subdomain nesting, hyphen and digit stuffing, link shorteners, credential-style wording and '@' host tricks.
- Brand lookalikes — edit-distance comparison against well-known retail and payment brands.
How to read the result
The score runs 0–100 and maps to three bands. Low Risk means no strong indicators were found — it is not a safety guarantee. Caution means one or more indicators deserve a second look. High Risk means multiple indicators stacked up and you should verify the business independently before entering any card or login details. Every point change is listed under 'Why this result?' so you can judge the reasoning yourself.
When to check a link
The highest-value moment is before you click, not after. Common cases where a quick check pays off:
- A shipping or customs 'fee' text message with a shortened link.
- A deal from a social ad for a store you have never heard of.
- A password-reset or invoice email you did not expect.
- A marketplace seller who asks you to complete payment on an outside site.
Frequently asked questions
SiteFax results are automated risk assessments generated from public data sources. They highlight risk indicators and are not a verified determination that a website is fraudulent. Always confirm a seller independently before sending money.
